A Lovely Wedding

I found this beautiful wedding on A Cup of Jo last week, and thought that the simplicity and elegance was stunning. I love lace wedding dresses, and hydrangeas also happen to be my favorite flower. I thought it was just lovely.

Weekend Thrifting

Saturday I headed up to Ventura for the day to do some thrifting on Main St. It is quite adorable up there, with shops, cafes, and at the end of the street, one of the California Missions.
My parents(who are currently frolicing in NYC without me :( ) sent me up there on a mission to scope out the bookstore. They recently finished their year long remodel of their new home out here in the Valley, which has the one thing my mom has wanted her entire life: a library nook, complete with one of the ladders to fetch the books.

Problem: No books yet. Sure we have TONS of books, but my parents wants old ones with gorg covers and what not, so off I went.

Now, the bookstore was amazing. I can't wait until they go back. I didn't purchase anything there, though I did have to talk myself out of spening a mortage payment on a first edition gatsby. but I walked away.

Inspired by Coco&Kelly's patio series, I decided my mission for the day was to get some things to spruce up my patio to enjoy early morning coffee and blogging out there. Well, I failed. But got some amazing pieces! I went up there with 50.00, and only spent a few over my budget!

Here are the goodies!

Wicker caraf and mugs: These I would use for the patio, so I guess its a win.
Price: 6.45

Set of four hobnail mugs.I am starting to collect them, so this was a win. Currently they are living on my bookcase.
Price: 3.45 for all four

Chair! This was DEF my find of the day. I plan to recover it, though the current fabric isn't offensive, so it's going a little lower on the project list.
Price: 5.46

I scored these two lamps with shades. I put them on my media cabinet(which my dad informed me the technical name for is a salamander! isn't that funny!) It was looking really bare up there, so I am super pleased with how it looks

Price: 21.64 for both

This vintage shirt. I am not currently sure what I am going to wear it with, but I was thinking possible white jean capris or shorts.

Price: .86

This fabulous reworked vintage dress. I love the sparkles! I think it is a perfect Vegas dress.(note-that is not a stain on it. When I uploaded these and saw the mark, I panicked and ran back to my room to check. I must've just washed my hands or something.)
Price: 20.00

Total Spent:
57.86! Not bad at all for all those goodies! I would've been good, but that dress was my last purchase and it was just divine!
Hope you all had a lovely weekend! Don't forget to go over to Just a Girl and a City today! It is the last part of the June Bug series, so hop on over a little later to see what Summer means to us, and check out all the other girls answers as well!!

Wanted to leave your with a cheery pic I took in the dressing room of Trina Turk in Palm Springs a few weeks ago! Brighten up your Monday!

Long Island Lovely

I wish I had the guts/skill to mix prints, patterns and colors in my home. I am so afraid of having it look like all my ideas threw up and made a mess. I don't quite have that "quirkyness"(i don't know if thats the right word..maybe edge) to pull it off.

Veronica Beard's long island home is the opposite. She pulls it off and I want to move right in.

Yes please on the view, and this pink and white striped bench. Inspiration for my patio I think.

Green Zebra print couches! Need I say more?

These are a few of my Favorite Things

I've been feeling super overwhelmed lately, and the other day I was thinking about the little things that made me smile. Obviously family and friends topped my list, and above are a few of the material things that make me smile.

- My watch: This watch used to be my grandpas that he received in 1959 from the Continental Baking company after 10 years accident free (he delivered Wonder Bread door-to-door), he passed away in 2007, and when I moved home after college, I found this watch, added a new band, and have been wearing it ever since.
- Lassie (the stuffed dog): I got Lassie from Santa when I was 5 months old, she has traveled with me, some how survived college, and is still one of my favorite things
- My computer & phone: I honestly don't know how people survived without technology, with my phone and computer, I am able to keep in contact with so many people, cure my boredom, and of course check up on all my blogs
- My new shirt: Little things make me smile, and yesterday afternoon, my dad came home with this shirt for me. I had been telling him how bummed I was that they did not have this shirt for sale when I went to the Giants game on Saturday (with Danielle and a friend)--and when he showed up yesterday and surprised me with this shirt, it reminded me that it's the little things in life that make me smile, and I really appreciated the fact he remembered such a seemingly trivial conversation
Also, head on over to Just a Girl in the City for the second part of the June Bugs series, our favorite summer hobby!

A Gorgeously Girly Apartment

Alison of Frou Frou Fashionista posted a mini tour of her LA home last week, and I fell in love.
It's girly without being tooo girly(I think) and she has some great pieces. All in all, it is exactly what you would expect from a lingerie store owner.

My dream bedroom..gorgeous headboard, mirrored table, and rubie green bedding!!

A window display of her Studio City boutique

Reunited and it feels so good..Part Four

I planned a mini-vacation up to SF for the weekend! Since I drove, I only really had a full day on Saturday, so we packed it with super fun activities!
We woke up early Saturday morning and met Nicole Marie and her roomate for tea at Crown&Crumpet...they were both so sweet, as was the place. Cuteness overload! And an added bonus, they sold my toast press!

Candy bar..Sara snagged that awesome chocolate of the Queen in glitter

We decided to have lunch in Alamo Square park, which is where the painted ladies(the set of VIctorian houses behind us) The entire time we were there, the Full House theme was playing repeat in our head.

Then, we met my friend Anna and sat in Sara's amazing seats at the giants game(that went into 11 innings!) An added bonus was that they did the award ceremony for Randy Johnson's 300th win, and during the game, Nolan Ryan sat a few rows in front of us..

It was much too quick of a trip, but soo glad we got to see each other!!

I learned from you

"I Learned From You"
Miley and Billy Ray Cyrus

I didn't wanna listen to what you were sayin'

I thought that I knew all I need to knowI didn't realize that somewhere inside meI knew you were right but I couldn't say so I can take care of myself, yeah, you taught me well

I learned from you that I do not crumble

I learned that strength is something you choose

All of the reasons to keep on believin'

There's no question, that's a lesson, that I learned from you

We always don't agree on

What is the best wayTo get to the place that we're going from here

But I can really trust you, and give you the distance,to make your decisions without any fear

I'm grateful for all of the timesYou opened my eyes

I learned from you that I do not crumble

I learned that strength is something you choose

All of the reasons to keep on believin',There's no question, that's a lessonI learned from you

taught me to stand on my own and I thank you for that It saved me, it made me,and now that I'm looking back I can say

I learned from you that I learned from you I do not crumbleI learned that strength is something you choose something you choose

All of the reasons to keep on believin', keep on believin' There's no question, that's a lesson that I learned from you I learned from yoooouuu

I learned that strength is something you choose something you choose

All of the reasons to keep on believin',There's no question, that's a lesson that

I learned from you

Hope every daddy out there has a fabulous fathers day weekend

Grateful Heart

"There shall be eternal summer in the grateful heart." ~Celia Thaxter

Yesterday morning I got to work and made my first cup of tea for the day. This quote was on the bottom of the box of tea and it brought a smile to my face which lasted throughout the day.

Bonjour Cupcake!

Cupcakes are my favorite treat on the planet. I am currently on an intense diet that does not allow me to eat them ever again, so I must be a masichist since this morning, I searched cupcakes into google. But I found these gorgeous, designer inspired cupcakes shot by Swedish photog Therese Algard, and these are just too pretty to eat.
I can eat whole grain toast, and this little press would make breakfast that much more delightful!! What a way to say goodmorning

Ok..all this talk of food, off to the gym I go..

Blogger Interview: Haven and Home

Our June blogger interview is with Marianne of Haven and Home. If you haven't checked out her blog, she is a VERY talented interior designer in Birmingham. Her blog is full of her projects, fashion, and little tidbits of life in the south!

We also must say, she is a trooper. We did a rather non-traditional interview with her, and sent her the Proust questionnaire

What is your idea of perfect happiness:Being content with what you have, truly leaving it all in God's hands(this is something I work on everyday)
What is your greatest fear:Something happening to a loved one
What trait do you most deplore in yourself: I worry all the time ; I wish I was not such a worrier

What trait do you most deplore in others:Rudeness, I just don't see why people have to be unkind

Which living person do you most admire:My grandmother, even when times are tough you never hear her complain. Her quiet strength is admirable

What is your greatest extravagance: A great meal with great company
What is your current state of mind: Very relaxed after coming back from vacation
What do you consider the most overated virtue:This one is hard. I can't think of one off the top of my head...maybe determination. Probably too much can be a bad thing
On what occassion do you lie: I really try not to lie because I think it always comes back to get you but a little white lie to save someone's feelings doesn't hurt, right?
What do you dislike most about your appearance:Well, that really depends on the day..although the older I get the more comfortable I am in my own skin
What living person do you most dispise: Yikes! I better keep that one to myself. Despise is such a strong word
What is the quality you like most in a man:Trustworthiness and Compassion
What is the quality you like most in a woman: Same
Which words or phrases do you most overuse: LOVE--my blog is a great example of this
Who or what is the greatest love of your life: Patrick, my husband
When and where were you happiest: My honeymoon. You just got married to the love of your life, there was a celebration with all your family and friends-the people you love most; then you get to sit back, relax and do nothing-good times! Not to mention many frozen drinks

Which talent would you most like to have: I wish I was a great public speaker, now that is a talent. I would also like to play the guitar
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be: This would go back to the worrying too much, I can't stop!
What do you consider your greatest achievment: Starting my own company, it was something I always wanted to do. It was not easy which makes me appreciate it even more

If you were to die and come back as a person or thing, what would it be: My dog, he has the easiest life! I am only half way kidding about that
Where would you most like to live: On a beach somewhere, I love the ocean

What is your most treasured possesion: My wedding ring
What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery: Not having a relationship with God
What is your favorite occupation: Being a decorator-although I would not mind being a professional shopper-for myself haha. I would also love to be a veterinarian.
What is your most marked characteristic: Kindness
What do you value most in your friends: What I value most IS their friendship. Does that make sense?
Who are your favorite writers: Paulo Coehl, The Alchemist, is my favorite book. I cannot even tell you how many times I have read it

Who is your hero of fiction: Santiago from the Alchemist for following his dreams. Close second would be Carrie Bradshaw , for the shoes if nothing else.
What historical figure do you most identify with: I don't know to be honest. I will continue to think on this one. Okay, I am back. I took a quiz on the internet to help me and I did not really agree with the people it picked. So I am back to square one. Why can't I think of anyone?
Who are your heroes in real life: My family. I know it sounds hokey but they have all the traits I most admire and their own ways of dealing with whatever life brings them.
What are your favorite names: Harry(name of my dog) is my favorite. I seem to be in the minority with this one. I don't really have any favorites; I am currently likeing Adele and Daniel. My husband and I will NEVER agree on a name when we have kids

What is the thing you most dislike: Carrots. Not what the survey is looking for I know, but it is the truth!
What is your greatest regret: I try not to regret things, but if I had to pick one it would be not working harder to become fluent in Spanish(My dad is from Chile) I hope one day that changes.
How would you like to die: I may need a glass of wine after taking this! In my sleep would have to be the answer to that
What is your motto: Treat others as you would like to be treated
So, no personal question left unasked!! Thanks again to Marianne for doing this!! She deserves that glass of wine, or two! If it is already not a daily read, hop on over to Haven and Home for design inspiration..it will become one of your favorites!!
