It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

One of the first things I do after Thanksgiving is decorate for Christmas!

Just wanted to share a few photos of what has been done so far:

Penguins are a theme in my house

some glitter ornaments in my milk glass

My nativity was a gift from my parents from Sicily, made by the same company that makes the nativity for the Vatican every year

my holiday table at the moment..pointsetta table cloth with gold accents

and of course my tree!(which I did not notice was so lopsided until I looked at this picture!)
Did you ladies decorate over the weekend??

Happy Thanksgiving!

Wishing all of you a happy thanksgiving with whomever you're celebrating it! We are taking the rest of the week off to enjoy our families, begin the holiday decorating and shopping, and just being thankful for all we have! We would like to extend a special thanks to the men and women overseas who cannot be with their families this year...truly, thank you.

Jimmy Choo for H&M- a week later

Originally, I was going to wait on line for the collection..until the Friday night before, I was going out to dinner with my family and people we're already lining up. No thank you.
I read on a fashion blog that all of the NY stores were getting a restock, so Saturday I strolled into the Beverly Center, and out I came with my two finds:

There were still TONS of shoes( only under a size 9) but overall, I was quite happy, since these were two of the three items I wanted if I was waiting in line(the thigh high boots were the other)
So, I think I may have a new 25th bday dress!

November Blogger Interview: Tamstyles

Our November blogger interview is the glam Tamstyles. Her blog is filled with amazing projects, finds, and great style!

What inspired you to start blogging?

I was tired of being filtered on a forum about handbags, so I decided to start a blog and express myself freely.

What are some of your daily reads?

My list grows and changes. My blog stew pretty much sums it up, plus my dashboard has over 100 blogs that I touch as they update. But since I am into projects right now, Three Men and a Lady, I Suwannee, Little Green Notebook, and Elements of Style to name a few.

Who or What are your interior design inspirations?

I cant say my inspiration is one person. There are so many talents that help to inspire me. Ruthie Summers, Jan Showers, Nate Burkus....The list goes on. I study design daily and my eye seems to not fail me when I am out shopping. Plus other bloggers always inspire me. I love seeing what other people are doing. I think we all help inspire each other

What is your favorite room in your home and why?
Right now its my office with my formal living running close by. I put all the things that I love in my office. When I started blogging, I was working on my office at the time. I didnt even have paint up yet, so blogging helped me define what I wanted even more. Plus the office gets the most attention from visitors. People seem to really like what I have done when they stop by.

What is your winter wardrobe staple?
Boots, and my red coat. I love boots that go to the knee and above. So pairing those with some skinny jeans just makes my day. I love dressing in the winter more so than any other season.

What is your current favorite:
Song:"One in a million" by the late Aaliyah
Movie:"Lady sings the blus"
Celebrity Crush:Robin Thicke
Guilty Pleassure: SWEETS. Seriously its bad. When I find a sweet that I love I gain weight because I love it so. Right now I discovered these cinnamon rolls that Walmart sells in a 6 pack for $3.00. I put them in the microwave for 15 seconds and they are sooooo good.

Finally, what is a quote you live by?
"When people show you who they are, believe them the first time." I love this quote and it keeps me on top of my game.

If Get it Girl Style isn't a daily read, we hope you add it to your blog list!

So You Think You Can Dance

Last night, my friend and I went to see the So You Think You Can Dance Season 5 tour in San Jose. I'll admit, this show is a HUGE guilty pleasure of mine, and I wish for nothing more to be able to dance like these people, but sadly, I can't...instead, I just watch and live vicariously through their movement. Of all the seasons I've watched, season 5 was my definite favorite, so I was thrilled when my friend surprised me with tickets for my last birthday (in July). We had a great night watching the best routines of the season, and seeing all the dancers' individual personalities show. It was amazing to witness so much talent on one stage, and I was so sad when it all ended.

I thought I would leave you with one of the best dances of the last season (if not the show)-it brought me to tears while watching it on TV during the summer, and again last night during the show. It is danced by Ade and Melissa, and choreographed by Tyce Dioro in honor of one of his friends who has breast cancer.

Candy Girl

2010 is a year of weddings for me, I already have 4 on the schedule( 2 of which I am a bridesmaid, and they happen to be a weekend apart)I was browsing pictures on facebook last week, and I found pictures from a wedding a friend attended that had a gorgeous candy bar. I thought this idea would be perfect for a wedding shower for Natasha, my friend since high school.

I think it is an adorable idea, she loved it, so I started searching online for some more pictures. I haven't been able to find a lot from showers, but here are some gorg ones from weddings

So ladies, have you attended/thrown an event with a candy bar? Any ideas/suggestions? Should we match all the candy to her wedding colors( red and white mostly)?

Christmas DIY

Photobucket

Having just moved into a new apartment, and now paying rent, my roomie and I are all about do-it-yourself projects. This was just too cute (and easy) not to share. We are going to attempt to make the ornaments soon, and I'll post pics of how they turn out.

Pillow Talk

On Saturday, my sister in law and I traveled out about an hour to the Trina Turk outlet. Twice a year they have these crazy sample sales that nothing is over 75.00. Besides a black blazer, black shorts, cotton bow top and navy pencil skirt all for 25.00 each, a bathing suit top for 5.00, I scored these amazing polka dot pillow:

for 10.00 each! I am so excited. The outlet never gets her housewares, so I was beyond estatic. I can't wait for them to live on my black futon in my office/guest bedroom

Look of the Week: Mad Men

Mad Men is done for the season, and I am so sad.
Let's take a moment to discuss how GORGEOUS Margaret's veil was during her wedding, that was ruined due to the assination of President Kennedy.

I love feathers a lot, and I think this is just gorgeous. stunning. Would totally wear.

Glee + Wicked = Amazing

Danielle and I love musicals, so when one of our favorite tv shows, combined with one of our favorite musicals, I was thrilled. I thought Kurt and Rachel were awesome in singing "Defying Gravity." Listen below.

Land of the Free because of the Brave:Veterans Day 2009

"We don't see black we don't see white we don't see what we have to do
all we see is Red, White, and Blue.." Brian McKnight and Rascal Flatts

Today we want to remember the men and women we give their all for our great nation. These heroes, no matter the president or the policies or their own opinions, go to work to protect this great nation and the freedoms we hold so dear. Especially in the wake of the tragedy of Ft. Hood, you all sacrifice so much everyday.
To all of you, thank you is not enough. We owe you everything. You leave your families to protect those of us you have never met. You are truly American heroes.

A little Wisdom from Marilyn Monroe

Marilyn had some great quotes I often find myself relating to. I love the quote below..
Sometimes we find ourselves letting people from our past in, even though before when you were at a low point, they just left you and weren't supportive. I put this quote up on my wall to remind myself that some people don't necessarily deserve to be let back when you're finally getting back on track

So True...and Halloween

Photobucket

I have to say I agree with almost everything on this list...other than the one about The Mighty Ducks, that movie still rocks; although, I do often wonder what Emilio Estevez is up to...

Here is a pic of me from Halloween...At work, all the assistants in the group I work for dressed up as the Pink Ladies, and the Financial Advisors were the T-Birds. I don't have any pics to post, but I promise it was super cute!

My last minute Nancy Drew costume I put together at 7pm on Halloween night, after rummaging through my closet

My birthday is a little over a month away, and I am turning the big 2-5, and am def planning on getting dressed up to celebrate my quarter life landmark-and even better, my other blog half will be coming down to LA for the festivities.

Always super excited to plan ahead, I have found some options that I LOVE(all from bloomingdales)..

Nanette Leopore sequin and feather dress

Robert Rodriguez studded one shoulder

Theory leather dress

Which ones are we loving ladies? I would take any or all of them for the big night...

Also, I had one too many cocktails on Saturday to remember to take pictures of my full costume, but here is me with one of my good friends...I went as Cleopatra

I have had a crazy, hectic week, and because we only just got cable/Internet at the apartment (and the Internet acts up sometimes) I am attempting this post using my iPhone, while riding BART on my adjusted commute to work. Usually I am able to drive against rush hour commuter traffic from San Francisco to the East Bay, but due to some issues that occurred on the Bay Bridge last week, I have become a true commuter using public transportation. Luckily it gives me some time to catch up on my reading-unfortunately, I have to wake up an hour earlier than usual.

Enough about that. We want to give a HUGE thank you to our fabulous guest posters from last week, all the posts were great, and inspired-and I sure the last minute costume ideas helped a lot of people out.

I'll be back later this week with Halloween updates, and hopefully some pics of the apartment, decorating is taking a little longer than anticipated.
