Remembering the Fallen..Memorial Day 2010

These heroes ..they died for liberty – they died for us. They are at rest. They sleep in the land they made free, under the flag they rendered stainless, under the solemn pines, the sad hemlocks, the tearful willows, and the embracing vines. They sleep beneath the shadows of the clouds, careless alike of sunshine or of storm, each in the windowless Place of Rest. Earth may run red with other wars – they are at peace. In the midst of battle, in the roar of conflict, they found the serenity of death. I have one sentiment for soldiers living and dead: cheers for the living; tears for the dead. — Robert G. Ingersoll

We hope that everyone has a lovely three day weekend, and takes a moment to remember the reason we have an extra day off work and school. For the brave men and women who have given the ultimate sacrifice for this great nation..our words of thanks will never be enough for the gift you have given. To your families, you are constantly in our thoughts and prayers for the sacrifices you endure daily. And for our men and women who are currently fighting, may God bless you and keep you safe.

We'll be back on Tuesday, have a lovely weekend kittens!

Carrie and Aiden

I love Sex and the City. What girl doesn't(come to think of it..most guys do as well. I have had some of the most in depth conversations about this show with my brother)

Now, a lot of people won't agree with my next few statements..but I honestly don't like Carrie. I don' t think I could tolerate a friend like Carrie. I understand that her flaws are what make her relatable and blah blah, but I honestly think she is one of the most selfish characters ever on television.

Anyways, I never thought Carrie Bradshaw deserved Aiden Shaw. He was way tooooo good to her.
I also will rebel if Aiden and Carrie have a fling in The Middle East. Aiden would not cheat on his wife(remember, he is married with a little baby Tater Tot we meet in season 6) Literally, I will audibly scream in the theater on Friday if it happens..

Feel free to disagree with me in the comments ladies..what do you think about the possibility of an Aiden/Carrie "reunion"?

ps..SJP killed it at the premiere in Valentino Couture

Weekend Wedding in Tahoe

I'm going to a wedding this weekend in Tahoe, and I was looking forward to a lovely sunny four day Memorial day weekend with one of my best friends...until I looked at the weather forecast. Friday has a high of 38 degrees with a chance of snow, and the high on Saturday (the day of the wedding) is 51. My biggest problem is that I bought two new dresses for the occasion and now have to figure out how to turn them from spring/summer dresses, into something I can wear in the cold and be comfortable, but still look cute...so ladies, I need your help. (sorry for the crappy pics...I couldn't find the dresses online, and only had my iPhone camera)

I'm thinking the two dresses would work with tights and black heels, but I think I may need something a little warmer as well. Is anyone else ready for it to finally be spring?...it's supposed to be raining for the rest of the week here in San Francisco, again.

I am a Total Gleek

I am super lucky to have a godmother that works for Fox, and she always is able to hook it up for me when there are awesome events. The Glee concert was above and beyond. We were lucky to score 5th row seats, sitting next to Judd Apatow and his daughters, Ben Barnes, and Lisa Rinna and her kids(fyi..her lips don't look bad in person!)

These Glee kids are the hardest working actors in show biz right now. The concert was non-stop, and it has me really excited for the last few episodes of this season.

Here are a few pictures from my favorite performances

Bad Romance

Lady is a Tramp
It's my Life/Confessions

Jump

May in the Bag: Leslie of A Blonde Ambition

We are so excited to have Leslie of A Blonde Ambition, as our May In The Bag. Leslie is a fabulous southern girl and has a blog filled with so many pretty things, when we discovered it we sat and devoured it for hours.

Well first off, I’m so excited to be the “In the Bag” blogger for the month of May! I think the whole concept for this post series is just genius.

So here goes. First, a few facts:

Type: Miu Miu-inspired satchel from Shop Suey Boutique

Color: Black (because it’s slimming, ya’ll ; )

Weight: 1,000 pounds

…and in it, resides

-Freaking Huge Wad of Keys: I’ll be honest, I’m not even sure I know what all of these keys are for. Plus I have a ton of those remote control thingys for the various gates I park behind for work, at my casa, etc. My keys probably contribute to ½ the total weight of my purse.

-iPhone: My iPhone=the center of my universe. This baby functions as my iPod, camera, planner, calculator and primary lifeline to the modern world. Anyone who knows me well, knows that I never put this thing down. I would try to break the addiction, but I know my efforts would be unsuccessful. Love, love my iPhone.

-Ginormous sunglasses: These are my current faves, a retro-inspired pair from Francesca’s. They not only block out the sun on those painful post-Martini Night mornings, but they also look super cute with just about any outfit.

-Make-up: I’m a southern girl to the core when it comes to make-up and hair; I never leave the house without putting on at least mascara and lip gloss. I mean, you never know when Bradley Cooper might be lurking in the frozen food isle the market, right? So I’m always armed and ready with a few make-up essentials:

Laura Mercier Compact in Translucent

Sephora lipgloss in Rosy Glow

Stella by Stella McCartney perfume

Fiberwiig mascara in Black

NARS blush in Orgasm

-Water: I always keep a bottle in my purse (preferably Fiji or Smart Water) because I’m a thirsty girl.

-A Book: I try to always have a book on hand to keep myself occupied while waiting for meetings, getting my hair done, etc. Currently, I’m loving The Gospel According to Coco Chanel by Karen Karbo.

-Eyeglasses- I’ll be honest, my vision sucks. And on days when my contacts feel like sandpaper, I turn to my nerd glasses. And I really love my L.V. case.

So that’s my bag in a nutshell.

Thanks again to Sweet Nothings for letting me do this month’s honors!

Be blessed, lovelies-

Leslie

Songs for the Summer

Today, I thought I would share two songs that I am currently playing on repeat. They are very different, but I feel like they will both be big songs of the summer in their own way.

New York State of Mind

Next weekend, I am off for a whirlwind few days in Manhattan for one of my college friend's wedding. I arrive into the city on the red eye, and have a full schedule until I leave Monday afternoon.

First thing first, as soon as I exit the plane I will be getting myself some of these
and picking up this to read
I am staying at the trendy Hudson Hotel near central park, which has fabulous modern decor

The wedding will take place on Saturday at the Plaza hotel, and is going to be a fabulous black tie reception..

Once I wake up Sunday-hopefully not hungover-I will be heading out through Central Park to the Met

Probably seeing many a sailor along the way since it will be Fleet Week :)
I cannot wait to go downtown to shop at TopShop and Uniqulo
and visit Ground Zero on Memorial Day Monday
I've only been back to NY once since we moved away, and am quite excited to take in(and EAT MY WAY THROUGH) the city once again

Sick and Tired

I was at home sick in bed all day yesterday with a stomach bug...here's to hoping I get better soon. Also, I have a blind date coming up that was set up by a coworker...all I know is we will be going out to drinks, any advice on clothes, conversation, anything?

An Education

This weekend I finally got around to renting An Education with Carey Mulligan and Peter Sarsgard

If you have not seen this movie I highley recommend it! The acting, the fashion, everything is amazing.

Carey Mulligan has star power that is going to stick forever..not to mention great style. Though I really hated the Miu Miu she wore to the Met Ball, she already has made up for it while premiering Wall Street 2 in Cannes

Arriving in Prada

At a Press Conference in RM Roland Mouret

At the premier in Azzaro

Oh Happy Day

Happy Friday lovies. The weekend is finally here. Looking forward to fun, sun, a big meeting Sunday that *fingers crossed* will be life changing(hopefully more on that later!) and not having to think about work until Monday rolls back around...

Rediscovering Music

“Music does bring people together. It allows us to experience the same emotions. People everywhere are the same in heart and spirit.”

"Music is forever; music should grow and mature with you, following you right on up until you die." ~Paul Simon

I finally got around to completely cleaning out my old room at my parents place (I officially moved out in October) over the weekend, and I found a cd that I made my first year at college...the cd has been on repeat since finding it, it's been so fun flashing back and reflecting on all the memories and great times in college...even though I'm not a huge country fan "Night's I can't Remember (with friends I never forget)" and "Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off" will always take me back to the days of getting ready for basketball games and lacrosse parties.

Fabulous Fabric Help!

While browsing my decor files for some inspiration, I found this office picture I forgot I saved and fell in love all over again

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the classic polka dot in a less girly way..subtle, but gorgeous none the less.

Anyone have any idea what this fabric is? And if it happens to be 150.00 a yard, anyone know any budget friendly options!

Little Lizzie McGuire no Longer

We're big Hilary Duff fans over here. In college, Sara and myself and my roommate Cassie would often have the Lizzie McGuire movie on in the background and the soundtrack playing in the car. Lame, we know, but we loved it. Trust us when we say its the best thing to put on drunk coming home from Oasis(those were the days Sara)

Publish Post
Anyways, little lizzie is all grown up(with a gorg fiance and huge rock on her hang) and with her, her style has evolved as well. Whenever I see pictures of her, I always think her makeup and look is flawless.

Here are some makeup looks I love:

She's a disney starlet who seemed to actually make it out ok(take note miss Lohan)

Healthy Choice

It's May which means it's officially time to get my butt into gear, and get ready for my bathing suits--my biggest problem is I love to eat and hate the gym, so I need to start by eating better, and work my way into working out (any tips to motivate me appreciated!). My coworkers are going through the same thing, and the other day one of them sent me a site with Weight Watchers recipes. Now, I have never done Weight Watchers, but I know people who have that have lost a lot of weight, so I figured I would give it a try.

I made this on Tuesday night and it was delicious! I ate the left overs with a whole wheat tortilla, and lettuce tossed in balsamic for lunch on Wednesday and the flavors were still there. Everything on the site looks delish, and she posts calories, serving size, and Weight Watchers points with each post.

How I Feel Almost Every Morning

...and then I realize I have to actually get up and go to work...

Happy Hump Day

p.s. It's Cinco De Mayo any fun plans? My roomie and I will be making these, and eating dinner at the Mexican restaurant down the street.
