Oh Friday....

Happy weekend loves! What do you all have planned??

It is my lovely parent's 28th wedding anniversary today, so we'll be having a little family dinner on Sunday night. My parents pretty much are the most in love people I have ever seen. They met at a rehearsal dinner when my dads brother married my moms childhood friend. 3 months later, off to elope they went, driving from Connecticut to Vegas, but stopping in Corpus Christie instead since my uncle was stationed there. Married at the courthouse, reception at McDonald's, they had a church wedding two months later-where the rumor is both sets of grandparents said it wouldn't last. Ten months later, my brother was born, thirteen later I came around, and last it has.

If you ever met them now, you would never believe how their story started..but I'm pretty sure it has set up crazy expectations for whatever man I eventually marry.

What I Wore: Dinner at the Huntley Hotel

Hello loves!

Last Saturday, me and my best guy friend went to dinner at the Penthouse at the Huntley Hotel "for" Dine La. Except I mixed up the dates and it wasn't Dine La. But oh well. Any ladies in LA I recommend it. The hotel is gorgeous, as is the restaurant, and the food was delish! We started with cheese and truffle flat bread, then I had the shortribs and we split a side of Mac and Cheese.
Afterwards, we went to Brentwood Country Mart for the BEST ice cream Ever at Sweet Rose Creamery where they had HOME Made Marshmallows, which I ate so fast I spilled all over my front of Alyson Hannigan and her husband.

I'm excited to share this outfit because-minus my handbag-the entire thing is under 100.00. Talk about budget!

Top-Forever 21. 10.99. Purchased over the summer, they may still have them.
Skirt-Lanvin x H&M 59.99
Shoes-Forever 21 25.80
Bag-Alexander Wang Rocco

January My Favorite Find: Hallie of the Glam Lamb

Hello loves! I am so happy to announce the new blogger series for 2011.."My Favorite Find." Each month we'll feature a blogger who has had the ultimate shopping karma experience. Whether it is a fab vintage or thrifting find, a great dress on sale, or the last pair of fabulous heels at Nordies in your size, I'm excited to see what these lovely ladies are going to share!

First up is Hallie of The Glamb Lamb...

My best flea market/vintage find was not an easy decision to narrow down, since I have a few.... But, my coffee table has got to be the winner. It's a vintage gold metal coffee table base with a hand-cut lotus flower and gold bamboo details. I have actually seen similar ones on 1st dibs and Decorati - so I know it was a great find. I purchased it at an Estate Sale in Beverly Hills from a man who was selling his parents old furniture and needed to get it out of the sold condo fast. He charged me $140 and I was sold immediately!

Danielle - thanks so much for asking me to be a part of your series!! This was such a fun assignment. I can't wait to see what other bloggers come up with for great vintage finds!!!

Thanks Hallie! Below are some similar tables on 1st dibs..if it's on there, you know its a great deal!! Don't forget to check out Hallie's blog for more amazing design inspiration

A Simple, Chic Date Night Look

I love how effortlessly chic the woman(Isabella Lucas? I can't tell) looks in this picture. Messy yet put together up do, simple makeup, but stunning eyes. Put together without looking like you're trying to hard.

I really need to master my false lash application skills..

What I Wore: Winter Wedding

So, I decided to feature some of my ensembles on the blog when I can in a "What I Wore" feature after receiving several emails and comments. I would love to show you all more outfits, but there are a few reasons that probably won't happen:
1- I live alone. So until George or the ladies at LA Fitness want to take my pictures daily, it won't happen
2-My work outfits aren't too exciting. Lots of J.Crew, Theory, and Club Monaco.
3-I still am awful at taking pictures. I had planned on taking these pics as soon as I got to the wedding, but that didn't happen, so these are about 3 hours in-aka 3 hours of the bar-so please don't mind the saucy pose. I will try to get better

A reason I wanted to do this is because I am a bargain shopper. The phrase "champagne taste on a beer budget" is my life, I'm just incredibly savvy and get designer items at insane prices. The key is to shop around, know your sizing, and I have a bff sales lady at Nordstrom Rack who pulls stuff for me. It is all about patience my dears

So, without further delay, What I Wore to a Winter Wedding:

Dress-Hanni y from Nordstrom Rack
Bag-Asos Feather clutch I just had to have after Gareen blogged about it
Shoes-Christian Louboutin Prive Pumps from Off 5th Outlet

Brioche French Toast

I could eat breakfast for every meal of the day. I love it. French Toast has always been my favorite, ever since I was a little kid. I still will order it off the kids menu sometimes if I have to.

While looking through the Sunday Supper archives, I found this recipe for Brioche French Toast stuffed with marscapone and marmalade. oh my.

Wouldn't this make a perfect brunch to make..maybe I should throw a breakfast party not a dinner party....

Look for Less: Christian Louboutin Greissimo Pumps

Since last year I have had my eyes on these gorgeous Christian Louboutin Greissimo Pumps

However, the 875 price tag has stopped me

Enter Forever 21 with their Striped Peep Toe Heels

There are obvi some differences, but for 22.80, I think they will do the job just fine.

Is it bad I'm already thinking about Spring?

Braid Bar at Nine Zero One Salon in W.Hollywood

I squealed with delight when I read on Bella Sugar yesterday about Nine Zero One salon in West Hollywood, that now has a braid bar! I love rocking side braids like LC or Nicole Richie, but sadly cannot do it myself!

the affordable options include 4 different menu options.
Just a braid..25
Shampoo and braid..40
Shampoo , blowdry, and braid..100

I cannot wait to try this out-this would be so fun to try just for an evening out on the town!
If any fabulous LA ladies have been or get there before me, please please report back!

Fashion Meets Interior Design

When My favorite fashion design houses and interiors meet, I am in absolute heaven. Nothing like my two passions making a baby and having an amazing result

My absolute dream item EVER EVER EVER to own for my home would be a vintage Louis Vuitton Trunk

I would do exactly what Miss Tisdale did with it, and convert it into a fabulous coffee table

The Hermes Avalon blanket is another gorgeous staple for the home

Sadly, I am allergic to cashmere, so that will never be for me

These Vintage Gucci glasses would look so chic on any bar cart serving your guests

I love how Nicky Hilton converted an estate sale find in the Hamptons-a vintage Chanel Tray-into a side table for her Hollywood Hills home

Tory Burch has some new office accessories

This valentines day paperweight would be a great presie, and reminds me of the ones sold on IOMOI

I have a little vintage designer in my home as well. I found a pucci cushion on ebay a few years ago and it fits perfectly in my Ikea office chair

I've resised upgrading to a "big kid" chair just because the pillow is so perfect on this one, and I don't know where else to use it!

Hello Friday!

Happy friday my sweets! Boy, was this week oh so long for you all as well!? Getting back into the swing of things took me a lot longer than I had hoped-meaning I still have not fully! This weekend will be filled with a low key dive bar hop bachlerotte party Friday night hitting the mall for some returns(and a few sexy little goodies from the Victoria Secret Sale), unpacking from my trip officially(not just dragging what I need out of the suitcases), putting away the Christmas decorations, and probably opening a bottle of wine in the proccess!

Tell me loves, what exciting things are taking up your weekend days??

A Little Wisdom from Darius Rucker

Every stoplight I didn’t make
Every chance I did or I didn’t take
All the nights I went too far
All the ones that broke my heart
All the doors that I had to close
All the things I knew but I didn’t know
Thank God for all I missed
Cause it led me here to this

I am a huge fan of "country star" Darius Rucker-not that I didn't like Hootie-and I heard his new song on the radio over the Christmas holiday and thought it is a perfect mantra for 2011

Style Resolution 2011:Channel my Inner Olivia

I literally have an entire folder on my computer devoted to the style of Olivia Palermo. I've featured her as a style crush before, but I think she needs to be moved into the Icon category when it comes to fashion.

A master of the high-low mix, she always looks glamorously chic without trying too hard

My style goal for 2011 is to invest in more classics, stick to trendy pieces from places like Zara and ASOS, and hope to ooze an ounce of what she has

Who is your modern day style icon?

Tuesday, January 4, 2011

This year I will...

I've been thinking a lot about my goals and resolutions for 2011--besides the typical save more money, get to church more, try to write more letters and make more phone calls instead of emails and texts,
Here are some other things I hope to accomplish this year, and I figured if I blog it I have to do it:

Closet Organization:

I love shoes. I love bags. I love clothes. I am also very lucky to have my entire closet as well as the extra bedroom to takeover, yet it is a smidge unorganized.

Take more pictures:

Since June, 99.9 percent of all pictures I have taken have been of Georgie. Though I will probably take about 10000 more of him, I need to get better about documenting the rest of my life

Tone Up:

I need to step up the weight training at the gym..if I am getting up at 430am, I need to make it count

Host a dinner party:
I def want to host an adult get together in my place, once I finish up a few final projects and purchases

Plan a trip somewhere new

If I don't get out of the country, I'd love to visit Dallas, Chicago, or Washington DC this year

Get a little more confidence:

I'll admit it, sometimes I get socially awkward and shy around guys and meeting new people, so this year I am going to try to throw myself out there a little more and try some new adventures in order to meet new people and expand my network-though I will say 2011 has started out well..Sara and I vowed to be more assertive while out on Saturday, and we made some new friends. Who said my knowledge of college and professional football was "ridiculously sexy"..I would thank my dad and brother for that if it wasn't an awkward conversation

Meet up with some other fabulous bloggers:

I found this quote online from Eddie Ross and it is just so true about how I feel about all of you lovely ladies..I'd love to try to connect with some of the fabulous LA area bloggers out there for drinks!

What are some of your goals for the new year??
