A Little Wisdom From Steve Jobs

from The Stanford Commencement Speech 2005

Sometimes life hits you in the head with a brick. Don't lose faith. I'm convinced that the only thing that kept me going was that I loved what I did. You've got to find what you love. And that is as true for your work as it is for your lovers. Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven't found it yet, keep looking. Don't settle. As with all matters of the heart, you'll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on. So keep looking until you find it. Don't settle.

Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.

Britney Deserved Better

Dear MTV, that was the worst tribute ever. Those kids were cute, but she deserved more. Gaga needed to get off the stage. and WTF..did you tell her her acceptance speech needed to be Beyonce's intro??? Girlfriend is back, has overcome a lot, you should've at least not smushed her in with Beyonce.

In other news, Beyonce and Jay Z are finally having a little nugget.

Adele is flat out amazing. No lights and lazers and costumes and shennanigans. Pure emotion.

and Louisa Roe posted her outfit on twitter-and man I couldn't rotate it for the life of me-but I like it!

Workspaces that Wow

I daydream a lot at work. Of a different job. Of winning the lottery and having no job. Of opening a boutique and having a fabulous office in the back. Of a workplace where people don't yell at each other, call other people stupid, or take folders off your desk that are filled with your notes and then never give it back.

I also dream of fabulous work spaces that make me smile

Or I daydream of answering my emails in the Oscar De La Renta samples in the back office

Bad Date Bingo

I saw this on The Friskey and couldn't help but laugh. We've all had our fair share of awful dates. I think I would substitute sports fanatic with hates sports and complained about hipsters with is a hispter, and this is pretty much everything I don't want in a date

Worst date experience..let me hear them in the comments...

Money Can't Buy You Class

Nothing about this looks good at all-well Kendal and Kylie look lovely
Time for the Royal Wedding comparisons to STOP. Hate to be snarky, but for 20 million I expected..well I don't know

Kim..if Snooki is wearing one of these across the forehead headbands, it probably shouldn't be included in your wedding attire

Kris may be the biggest attention whore of all time

August My Favorite Find: Victoria of vmac+cheese

Happy Friday dolls! I am so excited for this month's guest for My Favorite Find: Victoria of vmac+cheese. I am so glad I found her blog for a daily dose of food, fabulous fashion finds, and reminders of what I love in San Francisco. And she is an absolute sweetheart. Enjoy!!

Happy Friday, Sweet Nothings readers! Victoria here from vmac+cheese. I'm so excited Danielle has asked me to participate in this month's Favorite Find! I love reading about what other bloggers can't live without, so I am equally happy to share one of my absolute must haves.

A bit of background: a few months ago, I started switching out a lot of my beauty products for more natural alternatives. There have definitely been some hits and misses along the way, but one of the best lines I've come across -- of any brand, both natural or otherwise -- is RMS Beauty. Founded by Rose Marie Swift, a longtime industry makeup artist, RMS Beauty consists of a line of completely natural and organic makeup products. Even better? The finished look is AMAZING.

Rose Marie is the makeup artist to Gisele and many other models and celebrities. You really can't argue with results like this:

I mean, if it's good enough for the Louis Vuitton campaign, it's definitely good enough for me!

I hate wearing foundation, so on a daily basis, I use little dabs of the Un-Cover Up, which can be used like a concealer. It blends so well and is SO good for your skin -- it can actually help heal blemishes! My absolute FAVORITE RMS product, however, is the Living Luminizer. I searched for what feels like years to find the perfect skin highlighter. I hate when highlighters are too sparkly or shimmery, and this stuff is neither. It blends seamlessly, and the finished look is just a gorgeous, dewy glow. I've had so many people ask me about my skincare routine, and I swear it's because this stuff just makes you look so vibrant.

The best part about RMS products (other than being truly natural and good for your skin) is that there is no water in them. That means that they seriously last FOREVER! While pricey, I first purchased my RMS products in early May of this year, and they hardly look like they've been used. It's absolutely worth the investment!

If you can, definitely check out RMS Beauty. I usually am all over the place with beauty brands, always in search of the next best thing, but I can guarantee RMS will be in my makeup bag for life!

Best Day Ever: A Parker Palm Springs Wedding

I love this wedding in Palm Springs that was on 100 layer cake! The fabulous fun couple branded their entire day "Best Day Ever" and it really shows in the pictures. It seems like such a party, down to the favors that were Jonathan Adler bud vases! Brilliant!

See them all here

Falling for Fall Fashion

Though fall doesn't really reach Los Angeles until about mid October, I am already mentally ready to be all dolled up in fall fashion. I've already posted about my J.Crew fall obsessions here, I also plan on purchasing nearly all 400 pieces of Missoni Target(i'm not joking either)

But here are some other things that I hope make their way into my overflowing closet...

Gosh this bag is perfection.

Wild and Crazy Kids

One of the things you don't know about me was that growing up, I had my 15 min of fame on the classic Nickelodeon show Wild and Crazy Kids. Sara and I have been talking about how I really don't utilize that fun fact when I talk to boys..she said that is really golden information to slip into conversation. To answer the question I know you're about to ask, no, we do not have our original shirts. I'm pretty sure I still hold it against my mother for selling it in a random yard sale we had

So, after countless hours this weekend spent on you tube and google, I have found the footage!
Since none of you all knew me growing up, you're going to have to trust I am actually showing you me and my brother and my mom in this 4:34 segment.

That right there is me putting water in the bucket. Min 1:43
Things I will not tell boys when I am using this flirting..About 2 seconds after this I nearly drown and had to be rescued by the lifeguard.

The boy doing the aggressive fist pump behind the blue exclamation mark is my older brother

And that lovely woman in the black tank top is my mother

TGIF ladies! This was a really long week, even with a mid day break on Wednesday. I have nothing planned for the weekend, just going to go with the flow. Should probably take a practice GMAT test at some point, since I only have 4 more classes left and really want to take the exam shortly thereafter. Blah! I think a closet clean out may be in order as well..get rid of some stuff that doesn't get worn-so nothing planned has turned into a lot!

A Little Wisdom from Amy Poehler

"Listen. Say Yes. Live in the Moment. Make sure you play with people who have your back. Try to keep your mind open to possibilities and your mouth closed on matters that you don't know about. Limit your 'always' and your 'nevers' Continue to share your heart with others even if it has been broker"

O'verlays..The Best Idea Ever

We all love a good Ikea hack, and that is the idea behind O'verlays, which I discovered from Erin's blog. They have pieces that you can attach to typical ikea pieces to make them look custom

I immediately emailed my dad this picture and told him we are doing it. Greek Key? yes please!!

how chic does this 11 dollar lack side table look!

and they are paintable!
This is just pure genius, and affordable too. I cannot wait to order some pieces. I am in the market for a new dresser, and now I think I have the perfect excuse!

Would you ever use a product like this? Or try to DIY yourself?
