Resolution Recap 1

With March ending in a few days (ummmm) I thought maybe every few months I should hold myself accountable and let you ladies know where I am on my resolutions.....

-BE HEALTHIER
(needs lots of work. seems to be going the opposite direction.)

-BE MORE OUTGOING
(meh....)

-DATE MORE
(well, my default I am having lots and lots of first dates. Not much else. have been really really frustrated with it and have given up dating about 4 times this year)

-LET GO OF THE PAST
(trying. lack of successful dates aren't helping)

-READ MORE BOOKS. WATCH LESS TV.
(I am watching less tv. haven't really had a lot of time to read..leave any suggestions in the comments)

-GO BACK TO CHURCH-REALISTICALLY AIM TO GET THERE ONE SUNDAY A MONTH
(Ash Wednesday. Easter next week. Not exactly doing great on this one)

-WRITE HANDWRITTEN NOTES.
( I have done this a little more)

-CALL MY GRANDPARENTS MORE
( another one I have accomplished a little bit more, unfortunately due to some health issues. A reminder that I really need to make sure I keep up with this one)


-LEARN HOW TO DO MY OWN MAKEUP/HAIR(GOD WON'T THAT SAVE ME MONEY AT DRYBAR)
(I did take a makeup class at Blushington that has helped! Still need to master the hair)
-MASTER A SIGNATURE DISH AND COCKTAIL
(nope)

-ALONG WITH DATING-ESTABLISH A SIGNATURE, GO TO DATE OUTFIT
(have a great first date outfit. Haven't really needed the rest. See above)

-ACTUALLY WEAR THE CLOTHES IN MY CLOSET. REMIND MYSELF I DON'T NEED A NEW OUTFIT FOR EVERYTHING
(doing a little better on this one. Really trying to curb my spending)

-MORE BLOGGER BRUNCHES/LUNCHES/DATES
(yay! have been successful at this one! had at least one blog date a month)

-DECORATE AND SHARE MY NEW PLACE
(slowly but surely. I do hope to do this by years end-my job luckily always has my creative juices flowing on this)

-JOIN A CLUB/GROUP

(not sure when I'm getting the time for this.)

all and all I have a long way to go and headway to make, but revisiting them is helping me keep them in the front of my mind. How are you ladies doing on your 2012 goals?

Coffee Table Styling

To me, one of the ways I know if someone has great taste or has great STYLE is how they arrange their coffee table. It is something I haven't quite mastered, need serious tips, and have no idea how to balance looking chic vs cluttered.

Shopping Karma

I've been dreaming of this Marc by Marc Jacobs dress for about two months now, randomly stopping the the boutique a few blocks away and admiring her. Imagine my delight when I find one, in my size, over the weekend at Nordstrom rack for almost 200 off.

now I just need somewhere to wear it.....

Skinny Love

My coworkers introduced me to Birdy, this 15 year old from the UK who has an amazing voice and does a breathtaking cover of Bon Iver's Skinny Love..though at 15 I don't think she could possibly have the life experience to know what this song is about

I'm obsessed with the new series that Jess Graves of The Love List started on her blog this week. I've been reading her blog for what seems like always, and I am really looking forward to seeing all of the outfits she is going to put together

A Room of One's Own

I pretty much adore everything about this room feature on Amanda Carol at home. I'm still getting situated figuring out how I want to decorate my place, and am really drawn to how girly and fabulous this space is.

Summer Music Festivals

Next month I am hitting the polo fields of Indio for 3 days of country music, beer, and and all around amazing time at Stagecoach. I have never done a three day festival before; and all of the outfit inspirations and advice and tips seemed to be geared towards Coachella.

Have any of my readers been to Stagecoach? Or does anyone have any cute outfits to recommend? Tips on how not to lose my friends/get drunk as a skunk at 11am/not get heatstroke?

My only stipulation is I really want to wear my boots all three days. I already purchased this dress to wear with my tan boots and a jean jacket, but need two more days of outfits..(see my red boots here)

Going Green Weekend

A few of my favorite green looks for the weekend. I'm excited to wear this dress tomorrow(despite the anticipated downpour) and have a drink or two(or ten) to celebrate St. Patrick's Day actually being on a weekend!

what a week

This week was unusually, uncharacteristically hard for no reasons that are earth shattering. One of those weeks where a million little things go wrong, so the fact you can't change the batteries in the can opener feels like World War 3 and you break down in tears and your dog judges you( not that it happened here or anything) I've felt like all week I have just wanted to crawl in a hole, and even then someone will probably tell me I didn't do that right.

But we're sucking it up--some fun plans this weekend are on the horizon shortly and I am not going to let my 48 hours of no work be spent sulking!

Monogram Oxford Shirt

I'm really dying for a pink monogram on an oversize white oxford...anyone have any ideas where I can buy one of these? I see them popping up all over pinterest and I just die a little inside each time. Do I have to find a monogram shop(?????) or a tailor???
